Unleavened Bread

Today’s recipe is Unleavened Bread which is familiar in the Jewish community as Matzah , Chapati in the Indian community, and Flatbread in most all other communities.

It is a very simple ingredient:
In the Jewish culture:

2 cups and 2 tbsp all purpose flour
1 cup cold water
½ tsp salt
( Presently people also add 2 tbsp olive oil)

In the Indian culture:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup wheat flour
1 tsp salt
¾ cup hot water
2 tbsp clarified butter (olive oil can be used as substitute)

Flatbread recipe:
2 cups wheat flour
½ tsp salt
3.5 tbsp unsalted butter
¾ cup milk
Butter is melted together with the milk and then added to flour and salt

In Luke 12, Jesus gave us these commandments,
 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these.”
Simple, right. Why is it so hard for us to be obedient? Simple ingredients to make a simple but satisfying meal. Yet we want to add exotic or complicating ingredients thinking this will sell it more, be noticed more and attract more people. We add yeast, garlic powder, onions, pepper , try to add pizza items ……….. Just like us; we are never satisfied, we want to be noticed, admired, loved more…more…more. when all God wants is our love for Him . By loving Him, we learn to love ourselves and our neighbors .
1 Corinthians 5:6 it says ‘Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us keep the festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.’
Let us not be so physical and body conscious that we neglect to feed  our spirit and soul. We leave ourselves open to others and to  ourselves adding junk to our life. We get so bloated, we cannot see the leaf from the trunk.

Matthew 16:11 Jesus says ‘How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Luke 12:15
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Learn to be content

Philippians 4:11-13
“… have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
