Humility and Marriage

EXAMPLE 5: JESUS
ULTIMATELY JESUS IS OUR EXAMPLE FROM THE BIBLE.
IN LUKE 2:41-52, WE SEE HOW JESUS AS A 12-YEAR-OLD CHILD SHOWS HUMILITY AND WISDOM:

1. VERSE 46 AND 47 JESUS in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. (WE ARE NEVER SO SMART THAT WE CANNOT LEARN FROM OTHERS. HOWEVER, WE NEED TO BE AISE TO ASK QUESTIONS AND GET THE RIGHT INFORMATION)  ⁴⁷ And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. 

VERSE 51-52 ⁵¹ Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them(HE IS GOD BUT HE WAS SUBJECT TO HIS EARTHLY PARENTS), but His mother kept all these things in her heart. ⁵² And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

2.   JOHN 13 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. (JESUS KNEW JUDAS WAS GOING TO BETRAY HIM YET IF YOU READ THE VERSE, JESUS LOVED HIM TOO TO THE END) ² And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him, ³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, ⁴ rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. ⁵ After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. ¹² So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? ¹³ You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. ¹⁶ Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

3. PHILIPPIANS 2:8-11 ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. ⁹ Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

4. MATTHEW 11: 29 JESUS SAID TAKE MY YOKE UPON YOU AND LEARN FROM ME FOR I AM GENTLE AND HUMBLE IN HEART AND YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS

JOHN 15:55 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

 

PSALMS 25:9 SAYS THE HUMBLE HE GUIDES IN JUSTICE. AND THE HUMBLE HE TEACHES HIS WAY.

THAT IS WHAT WE NEED, GUIDANCE AND TEACHING. WE STILL NEED HOLY SPIRIT TO GUIDE US AND GIVE US WISDOM IN ALL MATTERS

ROMANS 5:5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us WE SHOULD DEPEND ON JESUS ALONE. THE LORD HIMSELF WILL BE OUR PROMOTION AND INCREASE. WE STILL NEED HIM IN EVERYTHING WE DO.

JOHN 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing John 15:12-13. “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”

WE SHOULD FOCUS ON IMPROVING OUR INTIMACY WITH JESUS. FIND JOY, REST, SECURITY AND PEACE IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST
