2. HE IS A NEW CREATION
We do not become a new creation by our own effort or others telling us who we should be BUT to accept the truth that we are who God truly created us to be: a spirit filled child of God from the foundation of the world.
He gave us a new heart and His Spirit
Ezekiel 36:26-27
‘And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules’
Ephesians 4:23–24
“and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
He made us in Christ and filled us with light
John 1: 3-4
‘ All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.’
We were born again
1 Peter 1:22-23
‘Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God
1 Peter 1:3
‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead’
Romans 6:4
‘We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life’
When you consider yourself a new creation, there has to be a change from within that shows up in the physical, in our demeanor, and in loving others.
I have been told that men are attracted to me because of my smile and that they see a light shining through me. The old me would have felt proud and would have been more than friendly with them. But now I say ‘I thank God’ and continue my walk with my church family. It has become hard to receive accolades and praises for what I do because I always feel that I am able to freely give because He provides to me. All praises should go to Him and Him alone
This past year has been an amazing walk with Jesus and I can truly say I am a new creation. I receive yhis free gift and surrender to Jesus to walk in His ways.
Joseph Prince in his sermon said,
‘Living as a new creation is something God works in us, using our will and our choices. So, we must both receive the gift of being a new creation and be challenged to live the life of a new creation. All this is God’s work in us that we must submit to. This reminds us that at its root, Christianity is all about what God did for us, not what we can or should do for God.’
